Critical Texts Show 2025

The Critical Texts Show presents the work of MA Graphic Design students, each responding visually and materially to one of four critical texts – Xenofeminism, The Care Manifesto, Tactical Publishing and Post-Branding.

Through close reading, analysis and creative experimentation, students have explored how theory can be transformed and translated through design – how typography, form, sequence and media can carry meaning, provoke questions and imagine alternatives, going beyond simply illustrating the aforementioned texts.

Each project in this show aims to challenge the limits of what graphic design can, or should be. They ask: What happens when design is used not to sell or serve, but to speculate and reimagine? What kind of futures or alternatives can be articulated through visual thinking? How can design become a force for care, critique and collective futures?
