Recode
Monica Huang
《Recode》 explores how feminist identity can be digitally reconstructed through layers of glitch, distortion, and abstraction. Inspired by the Xenofeminist Manifesto, this work responds to the idea that identity, like technology, is not fixed but mutable and programmable. Using a fragmented figure and deconstructed typography, the image visualizes the manifesto’s call to “recode” existing systems and challenge normative representations of gender. The work is printed in separate colour layers onto transparent film and mounted on acrylic sheets, physically embodying the process of breakdown and reconstruction. From the front, the layers align into a unified figure; from the side, they reveal fragmentation and multiplicity—mirroring the text’s demand for a feminist future built through disruption and reassembly.
